What I did today

This lab is soooo fun I feel like a real hacker. Also I feel like I’m keeping up wayyy better with this lab than previous labs. I think I’ve just set up enough VMs at this point and am into the documentation workflow that the foundation is bootstrapped and I can Do The Fun Things. Realized I forgot about the technical article post.

Had the checkin with Carrie and Devin which went well. My old 4.0 student self is slightly crushed but I think it’s really good from a sustainable work standpoint for me to be a C/B student. Wish I could get more granular feedback but what I got was “it’s good” in employment services and “Bro you are not professional but kind of delightful” in CTT which was about what I expected.

What I Did Today

I had my first check in with Devin and Carrie to give my feedback about how things are going in the Pro CTP class. I expressed to Devin that I made a great last minute choice to continue my CTP training.

I uploaded the resume I’ve worked on to Indeed – although it’s not finalized. Carrie said we will continue to work on it (it needs more professional editing). I explained that I need to find a part time job soon and wanted to see if it gets any hits. I’ll keep you posted.

I created my BerkMart profile page in Word Press as a Customer Service Representative.

I worked for a little bit at the end of class on POS training that will continue tomorrow.

What I did today

Today we started the Coding and Web Servers lab. We answered questions on coding, programing languages, and web servers. We defined terms related to HTML. We created a Debian Linux VM that is running on command prompt only. We learned how to find the IP on the VM using command prompt. We learned how to connect to a VM from a different PC using SSH on the windows command prompt.

What I Did Today

Today I began by working on finding and summarizing job listings to be posted to CTP’s skill center page. I actually needed to follow up with supervisors about previous discussions we’d had first, so that somewhat distracted from the job listings task. Additionally I was feeling somewhat unwell at the start of my day, but luckily it passed and pretty soon I felt better. I did need a somewhat longer break early on, but I communicated the situation and ended up taking shorter breaks later in the day to make up for it. After this, I worked on trying to find profiles for CTP alumni, without much success, for a short while. I continued by doing B-Corp research, specifically looking for B-Corps that are potential candidates for partnership with CTP. Similarly, I also worked on researching rehabilitation centers for medical conditions such as spinal injuries. These centers are often good partners for CTP since many of these patients need such rehabilitation for integrating back into their normal life and transitioning to a more accessible type of work. Finally, I looked into companies that have kept their DEI initiatives in spite of recent legal changes, and made sure to highlight those for potential outreach compared to companies which disbanded their DEI initiatives. I have some follow-up meetings with supervisors later in the week, so I will look forward to that.
