What I Did Today

Today was my final day of AWEX, in which I attempted to finish the video project I had been working on, although I unfortunately ran out of time by the end. As for AWEX, I’m super happy to have had the experience, and I can now look forward to the next steps of my career journey. The experience was helpful, fun, and empowering, and I’m glad I was able to see it through to the end. I hope I was able to make a good impression, and the experience will also be great for me to use on my resume for future employment opportunities. Additionally, I have made friends and professional contacts, received a lot of great advice from supervisors, and I now have a catalog of posts to look back on, to show my experience from day one. I will be communicating with my DOR counselor about next steps, potentially including but not limited to more Supported Job Search with CTP, but I will be focusing more directly on my longer term employment goal, in order to get the ball rolling. I will also be looking into more jobs involving AI, as that is a growing market with a lot of opportunities. I hope to be able to keep in touch with CTP as much as is appropriate, and look back on the experience as a jumpstart to my career. I’m very grateful for staff and fellow associates, making it a painless process for me to go through, but still pushing me to practice and hone my skills.

What I Did Today

It’s a short week this week, but productive. In my first hour I shared 13 job posts and 3 job fairs. Then I had my weekly check-in, which went great! I learned how to move information from the food bank spreadsheet to the website. I’ll start working on that next week after I finish off the leads I have for Alameda county. For my final hour I worked on adding dei inclusive companies to the list. A friend told me about her old company Cost Plus World Market, so I added that to the list as well.
