CTP Skill Center

Today was a free elective day. But not for the soon-to-be graduates, including me. I can’t believe that this is the third month of being in CTP classes. I have a lot to be grateful for. I love my teachers and how patient and knowledgeable they are. We graduates work on our CORE Training portfolios for graduation day. We have until Thursday to work on and complete them. I decided to use a template that Marc recommended last week. The app is called Slides Carnival. I really like how you can import the slides to Google Sheets. I’m about 30% done. Lastly, we post our blogs on what we did today.

I started the day by clocking in with Homebase. I created a new ticket on osTicket for this week’s lab, which is Computer Hardware. I did a pre-lab on Computer Hardware, where I had to answer a few questions and define the terms. Then I started working on the project during class. Then I did the Percipio Benchmark I scored 83, even though I didn’t get there yet. At the end of the day, I did a “What did I do today?” post, then I clocked out of Homebase.

Practiced typing for 15 minutes. Mike went over the Core Portfolio us, who are on our third month doing Core, have to present on graduation day. Spent the time starting the slideshow, like what we were doing before CTP, what skills I learned. It’s a great assignment, as we can see ourselves before and after CTP.

It was a little unusual to have homework over the weekend, but I did manage to complete the Percipio course in Word365 Mail Merge. I submitted the screenshot with my passing score first thing in the morning. I thought the course was straightforward but the course test was too tricky, asking us to put the vaguely described steps in each mail merge procedure in exact order. Nevertheless, I was happy with my passing score. Now I feel like I can run a mail merge in MS Word.

Unfortunately, I then forgot to check into Homebase on time, clocking in almost an hour late. I put up a sticky note reminder on my computer to try to remember going forward.

Otherwise, I was pretty excited this week is meant for electives. I had been working on Salesforce CRM for a few months, and completed a number of badges and trails on Salesforce Trailhead. I had an interview with a Salesforce blogger this morning to describe my activities and progress learning about this widely used CRM platform. Fortunately, the extra time allotted for electives allowed me to easily complete 2 or 3 advanced badges dealing with Prompt Builder and Flows when designing in Agentforce Builder (AI agency and subagents for the fictitious company Coral Resorts).

I’m excited for class to be over and I hope I can use this week to get better exercise in my off-time and feel better across the board.

Started off the day by clocking into HomeBase. Then we jumped into our lab for this week. I got done with the pre-lab part, so tomorrow I can jump into the main thing. Then we did a Benchmark test. Then we ended the day by doing our “What I did today” post before clocking out of HomeBase for the day.

Today I learned some key computer hardware terms. I worked on the partition lab, and so far so good. I also took my first benchmark assessment and scored a 32, which is about what I expected. I know I still have a long way to go, and that’s ok. I’ll get there . . .

Today, my main responsibilities as an administrative associate are my daily task for the day to research and post job listings onto the CTP skill center website, and my main task for the day is to research general emails and contact information for foundations from a provided list and then send email messages to the applicable foundations. I logged more general emails and site forms for provided foundations to be contacted, filtered out foundations without proper contact sites and general emails and messaged around 6 more foundations using the provided email template.

We started off making sure we sent our tech articles in Slack. We refreshed ourselves with the OS Ticket and started a new ticket for the new week. Our lab this week is for computer management and learning where the files go and how to allocate space for them in virtual machines. We just got started, so was not able to get too far. Then we did a benchmark for CompTIA A+ Core 2 Literacy Benchmark (Beginner Level). I got 67, so apparently the presipio videos are paying off.
