Today we worked with the Microslips app and role-played as an employee and a customer in three different scenarios. After that, we worked on customer service responses after watching an informative video on customer service. It was also interesting to learn how to put a hold on the conversation and transfer the call. Overall, I say it was a good time in class today.
Today we worked on the phones and answered them as Berkmart employees. It started with a short presentation on how they work. Then we got to do scenarios, each of us taking on different roles: customer, employee, and manager. There were a few hiccups with the phones, but we got it done. After we watched this video on customer service and what it takes to have good customer service. The final thing was that we did an assignment on answering customer service questions for Berkmart. We had to figure out how to professionally address issues and feedback that came into our email.
August 25, 2026: Today, I did a 3-minute typing test, practiced communicating with MicroSIP, watched a video about customer service and communication while on the phone, and started to work on the written customer responses document. I could barely think of what to type for my responses, but perhaps I’ll have better luck tomorrow after brainstorming some ideas.
Started the day by clocking in with Homebase. Then it was time to set up VOIP.ms, which I have to use since I am using a Mac, and I can only use the app on my iPhone, and mine was not working at all, which is a bummer. After that, it was Independent Challenge time, for which I did the first part and the second part and didn’t finish the third part. I felt today was relaxing and mostly independent challenges for the rest of the class time, which made the time go by faster. I am ready to end the day by doing my “What did I do today” post and then clock out of Homebase.
After I submitted my Percipio Skillsoft (on PMBOK 8, the newest documentation for Project Management Professionals), I logged into Homebase and started typing. Today we were in a combined session with CTT and also crossed paths with PRO graduates who moved up to SJS. For the first little bit of class after typing practice, we experimented with MicroSIP. I made a few calls and tried to transfer a call (which I completed successfully) and tried to make a conference call (which I failed somewhat miserably).
For the rest of class, we had to work on an Independent Challenge, which covered formatting basics on Google Docs and another hourly income-related spreadsheet. The Google Sheets was the hardest part of the challenge, getting the formatting to match exactly. Especially after adding the borders to the cells universally, I could not figure out how to remove some of the horizontal borders to match the example spreadsheet. Nevertheless, working on the Sum and other arithmetic functions was pretty straightforward and I feel confident I was able to complete most, if not all of the questions.
Today I did another Docs and Sheets “Independent Challenge.” I was able to do everything without any problems. It was some good formula practice for me.

Today we installed Microslip on our personal computer and had some practice with talking on it. We also did the independent challenges, which were fun and interesting. It got me to work on how to follow instructions on Google Docs and Google Sheets. Also, I think I need more outside practice with Google Sheets and formulas in particular. Overall it was a good challenge.
First, we did our fifteen minutes of typing. My skills have improved both in speed and accuracy. I should do more typing on my own to try to get even faster. Then we went over MicroSip and got the new guys set up. The ones that were left in class practiced calling each other, transferring, and conference calling. That was kinda fun because it was literally the telephone game. Finally, we did our independent challenge, and for some reason I zipped through, so I did my Precipio.
