What I Did Today

Today, I started by practicing touch typing to improve my speed and accuracy. After completing the practice, I recorded my score in the Zoom chat as instructed. Next, I worked on the written customer service response assignment. I focused on using a professional greeting, showing empathy, and following company policies in my responsesAfter that, I completed the Monthly Independent Challenge, which usually includes three parts. This helped me practice working independently and staying organized with my tasks.

What I learned today

I appreciated the review of networking and the break-out discussions which provided an opportunity to hear classmates answers to questions and to practice answering them. I was challenged by the new interview questions – especially the what is my favorite movie or book and why. I really enjoyed hearing my classmates answers and also to refining my own.

What I did today, 5/22

Started the day by clocking into HomeBase for the day. Then there was a presentation. Then we did a bit of networking with our classmates. Then we worked on our Resume. Then we did more interview practice. Then did the CTT Self-Assessment survey and the ” What I did today” post. Then I clocked out of HomeBase for the day and weekend.

What I did today….

Learned about ChatGPT for the first time! I want to work on my resume this weekend, using it. We did practice on how to network. I definitely need to work on that. I enjoyed the interview questions we worked on today, like what book or movie has had an impact on you and why. I love to learn about others by listening to their answers. Thank you, Carrie!

What I learned today

I had two great interviews; some of the positive feedback included: the interviewer appreciating the following: the depth of my experience; the way I communicate with professionalism and confidence; my leadership approach and genuine empathy, passion for community building, collaboration and developing trust. How people centric I am and that I have the ability to reflect on leadership styles and genuinely embrace professional growth; that I’m a very intentional leader, that I’ve gained a lot of wisdom for the roles I’ve held and institutions across nonprofit and for profit organizations and in a variety of industries: health care, banking and community building. Also a skill the interviewer commented on was that I communicate ideas, clearly, authentically and professionally.

The interviewers (Mely Navarro and Jacqueline Arreola- Muniz) and I really enjoyed the experience interviewing today. I really appreciated their kind and encouraging manner throughout the interview. Mely thought I would be a great fit for an position open they have in the new Oakland office! I learned a lot in the interview and appreciated that they asked new questions that challenged me. Some of the questions were the same as last week and I felt much more relaxed answering them. It’s been great to utilize the rubrics for interview preparation and have interview practice.

What I Did Today

Today I enjoyed mock interviews with volunteers from Beneficial State Bank. I need to practice questions and answers with people who know what they would seek in a person they would interview or consider for employment. I’m getting better at not being so nervous.
