Today in class, we worked on a Google Calendar assignment. I had to meet with Carrie regarding jobs. After the meeting with Carrie, I worked a little bit on my flyer, and to finish off class, I did my “What I did today.”

I did a Google Calendar assignment today, it was a pretty simple assignment.

Today I finished my single layer network and began working on a 2-layer network, which is a local network WITHIN a local network, which will be great practice learning how to configure routers and hosts. This was most of the day and I do not have much to write, still a productive day.

Today, I learned how to traceroute Google and DNS lookup to Google. I learned how to release and renew an IP address. Next, I learned how to log into the router’s console to find the DHCP Leases, which provided the IP addresses of the virtual machines. Lastly, I finished up my CTT Building Block Network …

In the first hour, I did 15 minutes of typing practice and then worked on CS jobs in the San Francisco area. In hours two and three I worked on the emergency food list for Sonoma County.

We always begin with typing practice, and it has been encouraging to see my progress. My typing speed and accuracy continue to improve, especially as I adjust to my new keyboard. I learned about the definitions of commands within Linux and Windows. I learned about the Subnets/IP/Gateways of the Debian, Windows PC, vhostxx, and the pfSense Router WAN IP and LAN IP.

Made project on the new networking project for CTT. Started making more sense of the Networking Building Block. Life is good.

Today, I began to work on my networking project in an attempt to create a virtual local network to gain an understanding of network fundamentals. I have a lot to learn as I am struggling with the concept but still very eager to figure out this puzzle of connections.
