CTP Skill Center

I started off the day by clocking into HomeBase. Then we talked about each of our news articles on tech. Then we share the projects we did using Scratch. Then we moved on to our other labs for the day. I also played around more with the text-to-speech app and now have more voices to use that sound way better. Then I did “what I did today” post and will clock out of HomeBase for the day and get ready for tomorrow’s mock interviews. Wish me luck!

Every day, we start with 15 minutes of typing time. I’ve noticed I need to make time to practice a little more. Next, we got into our project of the day – creating a BerkMark Event Flyer. This was a lot of fun! I was able to put my skills to use and use Canva to create it. I found an awesome template create it. I completed my flyer early, so I went right into working on my Accountability Homework Assignment. Later, we all shared our projects, and I was able to show everyone how to go to Canva to create a flyer. I really like helping people learn something that I have taught myself.

Today I presented my tech article and continued to work on the Coding and Web servers lab. I got to use my HTML knowledge to create my own web page.

Today I presented my tech article of the week. Then we showed Mike what we created using Scratch as part of our lab work. I also worked on completing and refining my professional portfolio slides, it needs a little more refinement. I plan to finish working on it tomorrow.

Typing practice was fun. I participated in the BerkMart Online Shopping Exercise. While I don’t do well speaking or demonstrating in front of others, it was fun. I also practiced Search Engine Modifiers, which was great.

Today, we started with our typing for 15 minutes. Next, we all worked on BerkMart Point of Sales role plays. That was fun! We all did great. Eleanor is a great marketer. She upsold Joseph, and he just kept on buying what she suggested. Next, we worked on “Search Modifying Tips”. That was interesting. It definitely helps you narrow down your search.

I started the day by clocking into HomeBase. Then we jumped into our labs for most of the 3 hours. We did play a little with some text to voice app’s as well. Then, at the end of the day, I did my “What I did today” post and clocked out for the day in HomeBase. Later tonight, I’ll work on some Skillsoft videos.

We did typing practice, role-played a BerkMart employee and a BerkMart Customer and learned about and practiced different Search Engine Modifiers. I enjoyed all of these areas and really appreciated Marc’s engagement, patience in answering questions, his encouragement and the great participation of my classmates.

I enjoyed today’s class very much. It was fun doing the BerkMart role-playing, customer and employee. I like to listen to people and how they word things. Search engine modifiers were interesting. I have to learn more about what to use according to my needs.

Today I worked on the HTML on a VM Web Server lab. I created and configured a Debian virtual machine in VirtualBox and installed the Apache web server and SSH server. I learned how to use Linux terminal commands, configure package repositories, check Apache service status, and find the VM IP address. I successfully connected to the Apache default webpage through a web browser using the VM’s IP address and began creating a custom HTML webpage using nano and HTML code.
