CTP Skill Center

Today, I worked on my portfolio, mainly what I did before I started training with CTP and what skills I learned from and would like to add to my next job. I also looked into job listings for work that I want to pursue and add to my job lead through Indeed. I also watched, with my co-workers, an example of a past portfolio that would inspire me to make my own in a similar, but distinct manner.

Today I continued to work on the “Project Inception” lab and took the skills benchmark test, which made me realize I have a lot of room for growth.

I began working on my 3rd-month portfolio today. I also did an assignment on workplace conflict today.

First, I clocked into Homebase, and I learned how to set up Windows 10 in VirtualBox and Virt Manager. I re-learned how to create a ticket, who the ticket is assigned to, and what the user is when creating a ticket. I learned more about the CompTIA+ benchmarks and the topics within the benchmarks that I need help with. Lastly, I worked on some Percipio topics that I didn’t finish for the 2025 Skillsoft/Percipio Courses List.

We did research on Delta Dental along with asking questions about what we researched We also worked on cover letters. we also did interview questions

Today in class, we worked on our elective projects. I chose to do company/job research, and I researched Delta Dental. The reason why I decided to research Delta Dental is that we are doing mock interviews with them this Wednesday, and doing this project helped me learn about them. I also worked on my Percipio, and I worked on my accountability assignment. After that, I did my “What I did today” and that was it for class.

Today I ran into a ton of connectivity issues that seemed to go largely (thankfully) unnoticed by my coursemates. I successfully set up Windows 10 in both VirtualBox and VMM with plenty of time to go, and got started on Phase 5 of Project Inception.

Things were looking good.

And then I took the Skillsoft benchmarking assessments….

I have a long way to go before I’m in any position to help anyone in IT. There is so much to learn! All good. I’ll keep plugging away until it no longer makes sense to.

Today I was in Employment Services with Carrie. She told us Delta Dental was coming on Wednesday for the mock interviews. She had us do a Company Research Assignment on Delta Dental to help us learn about the company before the interviews. We also worked on the interview questions and answers. Those can be stressful at first. Carrie gives us a FUN question first to help us loosen up before starting the interview questions. It definitely helps. I also worked on my resume and cover letter.

Today, I learned how to answer mock interview questions better from other students within the class. I learned that the best interviewee is someone who doesn’t read off from what they’ve written on paper, but uses their mental to answer questions.

Today, I started the class by doing research on a company that I will be mock interviewing with next week. Then I worked on improving my cover letter and linkedin profile. Then I practiced interview questions with my co-workers.
